2025 Belgian Grand Prix: Piastri tames Spa in the rain, Norris impresses

Grand prix belgique 2025 formule 1 à SPA

🌧️ Spa-Francorchamps: scene of controlled chaos

The Belgian skies did not spare the drivers this Sunday. At Spa, the dark clouds announced a Grand Prix as uncertain as it was intense. The first drops of rain were quick to fall on the legendary Ardennes circuit, causing a start under safety car and a delay of more than an hour . The spectators, faithful to the event, waited under their ponchos while the teams urgently adjusted their tire and weather strategies.

In this electric atmosphere, McLaren knew they were expected. And it was in the rain, on one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar, that Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris would score a memorable one-two finish in the history books.

⚡ Piastri seizes his chance, Norris gives nothing away

From the moment the race restarted after the neutralization, Oscar Piastri didn't waste a second. Lying in ambush behind his teammate Lando Norris , who had taken pole position, he took advantage of a perfect slipstream on the Eau Rouge climb to take the lead. A maneuver of surgical precision.

But Norris never gave up , staying in his teammate's wake despite tricky conditions and a slippery track. He even tried a different strategy at the end of the race with an early switch to slick tires, which didn't have the desired effect. Despite everything, the Briton secured a magnificent second place , reinforcing his status as a pillar of McLaren.

🥉 Leclerc solid, Verstappen trapped

Behind the McLarens, Charles Leclerc distinguished himself with an experienced Grand Prix. The Monegasque avoided the pitfalls of a race full of twists and turns to claim third place on the podium. He finished ahead of an unusually low-placed Max Verstappen , who was unable to find his usual rhythm in the changing conditions.

🔁 Fantastic comeback from Hamilton

Starting 18th after an engine penalty, Lewis Hamilton brilliantly fought his way back through the pack. He finished in a fine 7th place , demonstrating his experience in the dire conditions. A performance applauded by the entire paddock, which gave Ferrari a boost after a bumpy start to the season.
